New Beginnings

Our Story

George and Maria Argyros lived in New York and were working in Manhattan diners. When they returned to Corfu, they had only one thing in mind: to create a job that would keep them there for good. In 1979 Mathraki Resort started operating with a small unit of 2 apartments. The accommodation got expanded with 28 more apartments, a swimming pool and a restaurant. The addition of the restaurant brought George and Maria back to the job they love the most: cooking! The menu includes local and international dishes, prepared home-style as served for our own family.

“We present you delicious homemade dishes that are served in a family atmosphere at affordable prices. Our menu offers many choices such as omelets, sandwiches, salads, seafood, meat dishes, vegetarian plates, various coffees, cocktails, ice cream and desserts. Specialities include stifado, mousaka and fish bourdetto. Also, make sure to try the ‘Spaghetti Bouroubourou’! Special menu’s for the kids are available, as well as high chairs.”

Best food, best people! The food is great and the people are very nice. In high season Maria make's a special dish every week and it's always yummie! I have been at Mathraki resort for 3 time now and we rarely eat somewhere else, just because it's the best place to be!

Delicious food you could eat everyday. Very welcoming, friendly and relaxed dining experience. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. We have eaten here twice already in three days and shall return. The resort boasts a swimming pool as well as accommodation run by a hard working family. George and Maria, thanks for the lovely food which all the children liked too. Especially the ice-cream!

#1 Greek food on Corfu. Tried 10+ spots all over the island, but these guys are just amazing!!! Owned by a beautiful family of 4 who treat you like a guest in their house. Highly recommended! PS: make sure to give the 2 little doggies a treat. They deserve it 😉

Dinner was delicious (bruschetta, feta saganaki and filet mignon chefs special)! Also the white dot wine (white wine) was nice. This place deserves more recognition!

Really good fresh home made food. Nice atmosphere and great hospitality. We’ve stayed in this beautiful resort and ate diner several times. Breakfast and lunch a la carte, but if you like it something different it’s possible.

Delicious food. Whatever you order. Everything is divine. Breakfast, salad or Greek dinner. That was the case 10 years ago and it still is. You don't have to leave the house for that.

Super tasty food, eaten with the family every day. George and Maria Argyros can cook wonderfully. Have been coming here for several years and always had a good meal.
